Amanda counsels on a wide range of state and federal criminal matters, including traffic, DWI, and drug/narcotic offenses. A conviction can have a devastating impact on immigration status, and even "minor" charges can result in deportation. The criminal defense of foreign nationals must be handled with a thorough understanding of both immigration and criminal law.

Further, because local law enforcement entities now work with immigration officials, more and more foreign nationals find themselves detained and in removal proceedings. Amanda is experienced with detention, bond, habeas corpus, post-conviction relief, and related deportation matters.

A significant portion of Amanda's practice is spent assisting and training Employers, Managers, and HR Professionals with I-9 audits, preparation for government raids, national origin discrimination and other immigration-related employment issues.

Additionally, she focuses on representing individuals and agencies in the adoption process, for international and domestic adoptions. Amanda became interested in adoption matters while assisting with representation on a "safe haven" case in Arizona, asserting the rights of birth mothers and hospitals.

During law school, Amanda devoted a significant portion of her studies to immigration and international law, and became published for her award-winning article on the international diamond trade. In addition to her frequent publications, Amanda enjoys the opportunity to lecture audiences of attorneys, employers, and/or other individuals regarding the practice, politics, and procedures of immigration law.
