Raleigh, N.C. (Jan. 10, 2018) – Smith Debnam Chief Operating Officer Brian P. Gilman, CLM, has been named to the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) Board of Directors. Brian will serve a three-year term as an At-Large Director beginning May 2018.
ALA was founded in 1971 to provide support to professionals involved in the management of law firms, corporate legal departments, and government legal agencies. The association provides the global legal community with continuing education, solution resources and front-line tools for strategic management and leadership. With nearly 9,000 members in 92 chapters and more than 30 countries, ALA is the premier organization for legal management professionals.
Brian was named At-Large Director by the Association Nominating Committee after an extensive and competitive application process. He has been an active member and leader in the Raleigh/Durham Chapter of ALA (RDU Chapter) for many years. He is a former RDU Chapter president and board member, and he will complete a two-year term as an ALA Regional Representative in May 2018.
Brian has a history of leadership in industry associations, as well as civic and charitable organizations, including service on the North Carolina Bar Association Transitioning Lawyers Commission and the Board of Advisors of Ascend, International. Brian also serves on the BB&T Payment Solutions Advisory Board and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Midtown Raleigh Alliance.
