This re-certification, effective July 29, 2024, continues a distinguished career milestone that began with Jones’ initial certification on September 8, 1994. Since then, Jones has successfully obtained re-certification every five years, reflecting his sustained commitment to maintaining the highest standards in his practice.
The Supreme Court of South Carolina Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization oversees the certification of specialists among South Carolina attorneys. Jones’ re-certification is a testament to his deep knowledge and dedication. In a letter informing Jones of his re-certification, Mary A. Germack, Executive Director of the Commission, stated, “Please accept the Commission’s sincere congratulations on having satisfied the demanding standards established for this specialty…. Your service to the Supreme Court, the legal profession, and the public is saluted and deeply appreciated by the Commission.”
Jones’ career includes over three decades of experience in commercial law and bankruptcy litigation. Throughout his career, he has consistently earned recognition from Best Lawyers in America and South Carolina Super Lawyers. He has significantly contributed to the legal community, serving on the Bankruptcy Debtor-Creditor (BDC) Law Specialization Advisory Board from January 2011 through December 2016, including a term as Chair during his final year on the board. In addition to his specialization in bankruptcy law, Jones is a Certified Civil Court Mediator and is actively involved in various professional organizations such as the American Bankruptcy Institute, the South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association, the Bankruptcy Section of the North Carolina Bar, and the South Carolina Bar Association.
