Raleigh, N.C. (September 23, 2024) — Smith Debnam is excited to announce that Emily R. Murphy has officially joined the firm as an Associate Attorney in our Family Law practice group. Murphy, who has been a dedicated Law Clerk at the firm for the past fifteen months, is stepping into her new role with enthusiasm and a deep commitment to family law.
Murphy will handle a broad range of family law issues, including divorce and separation, child custody, and child support. Her areas of focus will also extend to property division and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
“Emily has already proven herself as a valuable asset to our team,” said Jerry T. Myers, Managing Partner at Smith Debnam. “We are thrilled to welcome her as a full-time associate. Her blend of empathy, fresh perspective, and commitment to family law makes her an excellent fit for our firm.”
A 2024 graduate of Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, Murphy also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Pre-Law Certificate from Siena College. Her accolades include induction into the Order of the Barristers and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice Student Advocacy Award.
“I am thrilled to continue my journey with Smith Debnam as a full-time Associate Attorney,” Murphy said. “After completing the Summer Clerk program and working part-time over the past fifteen months, I look forward to applying the skills I have honed to achieve great legal outcomes for my clients.”
Murphy is an active member of the American Association of Justice, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Tenth Judicial District Bar Association.
