Raleigh, N.C. (January 9, 2020) – The Raleigh-based law firm of Smith Debnam today announced the addition of veteran bankruptcy and creditors’ rights attorney Ron Jones to the firm, with plans to open an office in Charleston, South Carolina in early February. Jones joins Smith Debnam as a partner and will concentrate his practice and over 30 years of experience in the areas of commercial law and bankruptcy litigation, including all areas of creditors’ rights.

A certified specialist in bankruptcy and debtor-creditor law by the South Carolina Supreme Court, Jones is licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina, and his client representations include both secured and unsecured creditors, lenders, lessors, investors, asset purchasers, creditors’ committees, and occasionally, debtors. His practice experience also includes real estate law, such as contracts to sell, conveyances, and related title issues.

Before joining Smith Debnam, Jones was a member of the Creditors’ Rights practice group at Nexsen Pruet, and before that, he was at Clawson & Staubes, where he practiced for over 20 years.
Jones earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Arts from George Washington University, and his law degree from Campbell University School of Law.
