Charleston, S.C. (July 19, 2023) — Smith Debnam Attorneys at Law is pleased to announce the addition of Lucas Fautua as an Associate Attorney in their Charleston, South Carolina office. Fautua brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to clients in the areas of financial restructuring, real estate transactions, and debt collection.
Fautua is licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Before joining Smith Debnam, he served as an Associate Attorney at Riley Pope & Laney, LLC in Columbia, South Carolina, where he focused on default servicing, bankruptcy, real estate transactions, and litigation. Prior to that, Fautua clerked for the Honorable David R. Duncan at the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of South Carolina, where he contributed to the preparation of orders, opinions, and memoranda.

Fautua received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he actively participated in various organizations, such as the Student Bar Association, Peer Mentor Program, and Federalist Society. Prior to his legal studies, Fautua earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from North Carolina State University (NCSU), where he served as the President of the Student Council for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
